Sig Sauer P229 Stainless Elite Stainless

Sig Sauer P229 Elite Stainless

I recently purchased a 9MM Sig P229 Elite.  What a pretty gun!  I took it to my farm for a shoot.  Much to my disappointment, about every fifth shot, it would not eject the shell.  So I would stop, go through the normal safety procedures and manually extract the spent round.  Unfortunately, I had only brought one kind of ammo with me so I had to wait until my next trip to “trouble shoot” (no pun intended) this beautiful new gun.

I had been shooting 115 grain range ammo when the malfunctions occurred.  On my second trip, I had a variety of ammo with me.  I found that with 147 grain 9MM ammo (regardless of ammo manufacturer), the gun performed flawlessly.

With the correct ammo, the Sig P229 Elite with the Short Reset Trigger (SRT) is one of the smoothest shooting handguns you can find.  Accuracy?  The only problem there was the shooter, not the gun.  And yes, although a bit pricey, I would recommend it to a friend as a “must have” in any collection.
